Best Bumble Date
[This is part 4 of a 4 part story. You can read part 1 here, part 2 here, and part 3 here.]
This was one of the few dates I have been on that I didn't have anxiety beforehand that my date wouldn't show up. I did have anxiety about how I looked though. Did I look pretty enough for her? I hoped so.
No, I have not switched teams.
Tonight I went on a friend date with CBG! And yeah, it was the best Bumble date either one of us have been on.
Well, I am not sure you can call it an actual Bumble date, since we didn't meet on Bumble, but rather through bumble.
Actually, you could probably say we met through Tinder, if you wanted to go back that far.
All I know is that the universe had to align in so many ways in order for us to meet each other:
If it hadn't been for my One True Tinder Love (OTTL), I would never have met CBG.
I wouldn't even have this blog. And since I met CBG because of the blog and am now writing a blog about that, this is all getting pretty meta.
This all happened, as I briefly glossed over in The Idea, because my OTTL was the catalyst for starting this. I saw him, I was inspired, I sat down to write down my feelings about seeing him again and 23 days later it was a first draft of a book.
Once I wrote the book, I found out that in order to get published, I need a platform, as I wrote about in my Ode to Social Media. That's how the blog started.
Then there was the incident in which Ten double booked CBG and me and I met her on the doorstep of his place, in the rain, with no umbrella, when she was on her own Bumble date with my tenth Bumble date.
And then of course, I wrote a blog about that happening.
I met him on Bumble, she met him on Bumble, thus, we met each other through Bumble. Or Tinder, however you want to look at it.
And like I said in Karma, if she and Ten had showed up minutes earlier or later, this wouldn't have happened.
And THEN, well, then the universe just went into full speed motion.
CBG met a friend of hers for drinks. She told him her, yet another, bad date story: arriving with her date to his place to find a girl standing outside waiting for the him, he pretending the girl was not there to see him. Yeah, that story.
The thing is, her friend is my friend. CBG and I have one Facebook friend in common, a former co-worker of mine who I have not seen in ten years, who I never interact with (I should fix that, he's cool). And I just so happened to post my blog before they met up and he just so happened to read it.
If they had met up a day earlier, it might have never come up. If he hadn't checked Facebook at just the right time that day, it might have never come up. If they didn't know each other, if he and I didn't know each other, etc. etc. There are a million ways our paths could not have crossed.
But they did.
And she is amazing. And friends are my favorite.
However, on top of making a new friend, I got a GREAT story. Poor Ten, through his poor choices, he gave me a GREAT story. And my story has over 4,000 views as I write this. In fact, it might be the story I need to build my platform to get my book published.
But the thing is, I wrote a book because I have so many stories like this.
Why is that?
Well, I think that when you approach life with an open and forgiving heart, when you say yes, when you expose yourself, when you are genuine and warm, when you are brave enough to be vulnerable, the universe aligns for you and makes amazing things happen. It has happened to me so many times.
And OMG, CBG is, like, total new bestie. And seriously, isn't she so cute?!
So thank you Tinder and my OTTL and Bumble and Ten and Blogger and Facebook and former co-worker for introducing me to CBG and giving me this story. And thank you universe.
Oh, and after our "date," CBG messaged me and said,
Sooooooo great to meet you. I love everything about you. :)
Um, when does one ever get messages like that after a first date?
So yeah, best Bumble date ever.
Update: Want to find out how things ended up with Ten and me? With CBG and Ten? Keep reading.
